Bukit Aman special team probing Faisal Halim's acid attack, Selangor assembly told

SHAH ALAM: Bukit Aman's Classified Crimes Investigation Unit has taken over the case involving Selangor FC player Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim, the Selangor State Assembly was informed on Monday (Nov 25).

Deputy Speaker Kamri Kamaruddin said that the Selangor State Assembly Office had received feedback from Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan about the motion under Rule 17(1) of the Selangor State Assembly Standing Orders.

The motion was submitted by Abbas Salimmi Che Adzmi@Azmi (PH-Seri Serdang).

The feedback indicated that the police are serious about the investigation, with the case now in the hands of a specialised team from the Classified Crimes Investigation Unit, Criminal Investigation Department of Bukit Aman.

"The team possesses the expertise and advanced equipment necessary for identifying and apprehending the suspects involved in this incident," he said before commencing the question and answer session.

On Nov 22, Selangor youth, sports and entrepreneurship committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi indicated that the state government had not received any updates from the police about the progress of the investigation into the case involving the Selangor FC player.

Mohd Najwan mentioned that the state government was still awaiting information following the emergency motion that condemned extreme actions and violence threatening the lives and careers of athletes, especially football players.

The motion was unanimously passed during the previous sitting.

Submitted by Abbas Salimmi prior to the RS-1 Mid-Term Review debate on July 5, the motion called for an in-depth investigation into the acid attack on the national player. Five state assemblymen debated it.

On May 5, the 26-year-old Faisal, the 2023 Asian Cup top scorer, fell victim to an acid attack at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara, sustaining fourth-degree burns to several parts of his body. - Bernama
