SHAH ALAM: A drug storekeeper and his partner were busted after a Bukit Aman raid against a drug syndicate that was shipping narcotics overseas.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin, at a press conference Monday (ov 25), said that two suspects were arrested on Nov 21 in Sekinchan.
The two, a local man and an Indonesian woman, were caught in a room at a guesthouse there, with the police also seizing around 83.15g of suspected syabu then.
“Following their arrest, the male suspect led the police to a car that was parked around the Sungai Air Tawar area. Checks on the car led to the discover of 91 plastic packages containing around 94.64kg of suspected syabu,” he said.
In total, the police seized RM3.3mil in drugs.
Investigations showed that the duo were suspected to be the storekeepers for the syndicate.
The drugs were also intended for Indonesia, with the police believing the group had already successfully sent one shipment of drugs beforehand.
“They were paid around RM140,000 for one transaction to deliver to the set destination.
“The syndicate has been active for around three months. The male suspect was found to have two prior criminal offences and five drug-related ones.
“We believe there are others linked to the group. Investigations are underway to identify remaining members so that they will be brought to justice,” he said.
He added that the department will work with their Indonesian counterparts on the matter.
“We have always been working in tandem with them for such matters. And furthermore on Nov 27, I myself will be in Indonesia with my team to discuss other information sharing matters,” he said.
