DSAT serves letter of demand, demands RM1bil compensation from Sanusi

PETALING JAYA: DSAT Group Sdn Bhd has served a letter of demand (LOD) to Kedah Mentri Besar, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, on Sunday.

The group's Executive Chairman, Datuk Seri Azizul Tandek, said that the letter was delivered through their legal representatives, Messrs Gunaseharan & Linda, concerning remarks made by Sanusi on Nov 7 at the Sungai Petani Municipal Council.

"DSAT Group and Mahsuri Medical Centre (MMC) issued this letter of demand, requiring Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to issue a public apology, retract his statement, and pay RM1bil in damages," he said in a statement published by Sinar Harian on Monday (Nov 25).

According to Azizul, Sanusi, who is also the President of the Kedah Football Association (KFA), has been given 10 days to comply.

"If he fails to meet these demands within the stipulated time frame, DSAT Group and MMC will initiate court proceedings immediately without further notice to the Kedah Mentri Besar," he added.

On Wednesday, the daily reported that Sanusi had not yet received the LOD from DSAT Group regarding his remarks on the takeover of Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) on Nov 7.

He acknowledged that the RM1bil lawsuit by the company, if true, would be unprecedented.

However, Sanusi clarified that his comments about the party seeking to acquire the football club were general in nature and not directed at any specific company or individual.

"I don’t know what I said about them. I didn’t name them, their company, or anyone in particular.

"I just said that anyone wanting to take over KDA FC should not be a scammer. If the shoe fits, wear it. If they’re feeling the heat, maybe they bite off more than they can chew. I don’t know if they’re guilty of anything," he remarked.
