Expedite delayed rural development projects, Hajiji tells Sabah district officers

KOTA KINABALU: All district officers in Sabah have been instructed to promptly resolve delayed rural development projects, according to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He emphasised the importance of cooperation from all district officers to ensure the State Government's development agenda is efficiently implemented at the grassroots level.

"State and federal rural development projects must be executed according to schedule. This includes awareness programmes for rural communities," he said during his working visit to the state Rural Development Ministry office on Monday (Nov 25).

"The most important task is for district officers to resolve issues in their respective districts," he added.

The Chief Minister also called for the prompt issuance of allowances for the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK).

"I want the Ministry to monitor the performance of officers at district offices and ensure that work is carried out according to schedule, including resolving allowance issues," he stated.

He urged the Rural Development Ministry to improve the administrative process at all district offices in the state.

"The Rural Development Ministry is a crucial ministry tasked with transforming rural areas and enhancing the people's livelihood," he said at the meeting, which was also attended by Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim.

He also requested the state Rural Development Ministry to conduct relevant courses for all personnel in each district office to address pertinent issues.

During the working visit to the ministry, the Chief Minister and his entourage were briefed by Rural Development Ministry permanent secretary Datuk Norlijah Danin on the Ministry's ongoing and successfully implemented programmes.

These programmes include rural small development projects, rural entrepreneur development, rural economy and amenities, poverty eradication, one district one product, supplementary economic activities, rural alternative water supply, rural alternative electricity supply, and Rumah Mesra SMJ.

Hajiji was accompanied by state Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, state Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Ariffin Arif, assistant ministers, and senior department officers during the visit.
