KUALA LUMPUR: Despite not selling discounted school uniforms or groceries, the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry’s booth (Kuskop) at the Madani fair received a beeline of visitors over its three-day stint.
One such visitor was Ezwan Hamdi Ellias who was on the look out for business matchmaking opportunities and grant applications with SME Corp.
“I came here on behalf of my cooperative to seize every opportunity that is on offer. As an entrepreneur, you cannot wait for opportunities to fall in your lap,” said Ezwan of the Koperasi Anak-Anak Melayu Gombak Bhd (Kowaga).
“You have to go out there and take action. God willing, we will see positive outcomes when you do that,” he told Bernama at the Kuskop booth that was part of the Madani government two-year celebration at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
Although all the information at the booth is available online, Ezwan stressed that nothing beats face-face communication when it comes to hunting for deals and opportunities.
“This is a really good initiative from the government for entrepreneurs like us to network with like-minded individuals and agencies that can help us expand our business even to global markets”.
Throughout the past three days, Kuskop and agencies affiliated with it continued to get a stream of entrepreneurs and start-ups eager to explore new business prospects, expand their networks, and access much-needed financing.
Kuskop’s Norazean Hassan said consultation services and financial grants from the ministry’s agencies were major draws for visitors.
Among the notable exhibits were cottage products from One District One Industry (SDSI) initiative, tourism-related products from Kiran and online marketing platform MyMall, said Norazean, who is Kuskop’s corporate communications unit deputy chief.
Besides advice and consultations, SME Corp also provided on-site registration for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and MyMall Entrepreneurs.
Another highlight of the event was the Rahmah Madani sales fair organised by Kuskop and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living ministry (KPDN).
With the theme ‘Madani di Hati, Rakyat Disantuni’, the three-day fair also featured traffic summons payment counters, helmet exchange services and much more.
