Body in freezer: 53-year-old pastor charged with murdering mother

KUALA LUMPUR: A 53-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his mother in an incident three years ago.

N. Deanesh, who is a church pastor, was accused of murdering his 77-year-old mother, Catherine Daniel, at a house in Taman OUG.

He allegedly committed the offence between March 21 and March 26, 2021.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries a death sentence or imprisonment between 30 and 40 years and a minimum 12 strokes of the rotan.

Looking dishevelled, Deanesh, who was sitting in a wheelchair in court, said he understood the charge.

No plea was recorded as murder cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The media had previously reported about the body of a woman believed to have been murdered by her son and stuffed into a freezer for three years.
