Cops arrest cat abuser


KUALA LUMPUR: A 43-year-old man has been detained for allegedly abusing a cat.

City police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the suspect was arrested at his home at about 6.10pm on Sunday.

“A team from the Brickfields CID serious crime division (D9) arrested the suspect.

“We are investigating the case under Section 428 of the Penal Code.

“The suspect has been remanded to assist in investigations,” he said.

He urged those with information on the incident to contact the KL police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or the Brickfields police hotline at 03-2297 9222 or any nearest police station.

A police report was lodged over the incident in Old Klang road.

The video of the alleged abuse, showing a man dragging a cat using a rope tied to its neck, has since gone viral on social media.

An individual who saw the video lodged a police report at 5.26pm on Saturday.

The police report and the video were also referred to the Kuala Lumpur Veterinary Services Department for further action.
