KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has collected about RM9.1mil from traffic summonses paid during the 60% discount offer held in conjunction with the government’s second anniversary celebration.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said 103,590 summonses were settled in the three-day programme since Friday.

“The top three offences were speeding, ignoring traffic signals and illegal parking (traffic obstruction),” he said, adding that the department did not set a target on the number of summonses to be paid.

“As such, we were heartened by the presence of 32,500 visitors who visited our booth to settle their summonses.

“Our priority is not the amount collected but the number of overdue summonses that have been settled. The huge number of people who came showed the awareness among the public,” Comm Mohd Yusri said when contacted.

He also said the JSPT is studying the possibility of having discounts on traffic summonses nationwide via cashless payment using the MyBayar PDRM application and portal.

“We also aim to increase the number of people registering with MyBayar PDRM,” he added.

Comm Mohd Yusri reminded the public not to wait for discount offers to settle their summonses.

“Pay your summonses on time and always adhere to traffic regulations and rules.

“Enforcement efforts will be conducted continuously to ensure the safety of all road users,” he said.

Comm Mohd Yusri also reminded road users to be extra careful during the northeast monsoon season where heavy rains are expected.

“Always be mindful while on the road for the safety of all road users.

“Pay attention to road conditions and be aware of other road users as well,” he added.
