10 houses affected by floodwaters after continuous rain in Kedah

ALOR SETAR: A total of 10 houses in Kampung Nahmah in Changloon here were inundated by floodwaters after a downpour since Tuesday (Nov 26).

Kubang Pasu Civil Defence Force officer Captain Mohd Adenin Suhaimi said continuous rain caused the nearby river to overflow and subsequently submerged the village.

"About 1km radius of the area was flooded with water levels rising to four feet. Four Civil Defence Force (APM) members and a 4x4 vehicle were deployed to the village to monitor the situation," he added.

Affected villagers have been advised to be prepared for evacuation at anytime, he added.

"If deemed necessary, a temporary relief centre will be activated once after the district officer has given the approval," he said.
