SEREMBAN: The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) has rejected one of two representations submitted by celebrity preacher Azman Syah Alias - also known as PU Azman - over charges of committing physical sexual assault against him at the Seremban Sessions Court.

The matter was disclosed by Deputy Public Prosecutor Rasyidah Murni Adzmi when the case was mentioned before Judge Datin Surita Budin on Wednesday (Nov 27).

According to Sinar Harian, Rasyidah Murni said the representation that involved a 17-year-old male victim was rejected by the AGC and will proceed to trial with the original charge, while the representation for another male victim aged 16 years and 10 months was accepted.

During the proceedings, lawyers Mohamad Zahid Ahmad and Fahmi Adilah, representing PU Azman, 43, requested an earlier date from the court to discuss their client’s stance regarding the outcome of the representation.

The prosecution was also represented by Deputy Public Prosecutors Norazihah Asmuni and Nurul Balkis Zunaidi.

The court then set Dec 17 for the next mention to review the status of the accused at Kajang Prison.

Met outside the court, Mohamad Zahid said he could not disclose the detailed outcome of the representation as he did not want to preempt the court and would refer to his client first.

He also shared an update on PU Azman, who is in good health at Kajang Prison.

"PU Azman asked to be prayed for. Alhamdulillah, he (PU Azman) is doing well in Kajang Prison and, as a blessing in disguise, he mentioned that he has managed to memorize one juz’ (chapter) of the Quran there," he said.

PU Azman was placed in Kajang Prison on Sept 27 to serve a 24-year prison sentence and two strokes of the cane.

The sentence was meted out by the Sessions Court against PU Azman on two counts of sexual assault against a 17-year-old boy two years ago.
