Floods: 16 evacuated from four villages in Kedah

ALOR SETAR: Sixteen people from five families have been evacuated to a temporary relief centre after floods inundated their houses here.

Kedah Civil Defence Force deputy director Major (PA) Mohd Suhaimi Mohd Zain said the victims from four villages in Changlun were relocated to the SMK Changloon flood relief centre which was activated at about 1.30pm on Wednesday (Nov 27).

"As of now only one flood relief centre is in operation," he said.

Mohd Suhaimi said the four affected villages are Kampung Nangmah, Kampung Paya Nongmi, Kampung Belakang T-Hotel and Kampung Kubang Lintah.

Mohd Suhaimi said a Civil Defence Force team has been deployed to the location to monitor the situation.

He advised villagers, especially those in low-lying areas, to always be alert and heed authorities' advice during the evacuation process.
