Chua dedicated the award to SMG, especially Education senior editor Christina Chin as well as the stakeholders she interviewed for her news coverage.

She thanked Chin for alerting the team to the contest.

“I wouldn’t have thought of working on construction-themed articles tailored to an educational perspective for our readers or submitting an entry for the award.

“And without the stakeholders who took the time to share their valuable insights, we wouldn’t have had the solid coverage needed to raise awareness about the issues surrounding the construction industry,” added Chua.Tung said the win was due to a great team effort.

“We have a very good team of writers and designers who work passionately to achieve the best results.

“Everybody was rewarded with recognition from CIDB and the judges,” he said.

The seventh edition of the awards, which was held at Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur here, was in recognition of the work of media professionals in reporting the developments and achievements of the construction sector, which plays an important role in the country’s development.

Among the categories featured included the Online Video and Television Broadcasting Media Award for Special Report and Documentary, and the Radio Broadcasting Media Award.

Jointly organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia and the Malaysian Press Institute, the event was launched by Deputy Works Minister Ahmad Maslan.

CIDB Malaysia is a statutory body under the Works Ministry.
