KUALA LUMPUR: Severe flooding is affecting six states - Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Perlis, Johor, and Perak, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told the Dewan Rakyat.
Kelantan is bearing the brunt of the disaster, with a staggering 30,582 individuals from 9,223 families directly affected, making it the state with the highest number of flood victims, the Prime Minister disclosed.
To address the crisis, 157 evacuation centres have been rapidly established across nine districts in Kelantan, he added.
During the Minister's Question Time at the Dewan Rakyat, he provided an update on the flood crisis that continues to worsen nationwide.

"As of 9.32am on Thursday (Nov 28), the number of flood victims has spiralled to 37,189, involving 11,385 families across the six states," he said.
In a bid to manage the escalating situation, as many as 322 temporary evacuation centres have been set up in the flood-stricken states.
The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), along with all the state governments and agencies collaborating in these relief efforts.
"Under the guidance of the Deputy Prime Minister, Nadma has been instructed to streamline the operations of federal and state agencies.
"The objective is to ensure that the safety and welfare of the flood victims and affected residents remain the topmost priority throughout the northeast monsoon season, which spans from November 2024 to March 2025," he emphasised.
