Human Resource Ministry to review labour laws on annual leave entitlement


KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Resource Ministry will review all labour laws, including Section 60E of the Employment Act 1955, which deals with annual leave entitlements.

Deputy Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad said the last amendment to the Act was in 2022, with 12 amendments made to date.

He said under Section 60E, employees are entitled to paid annual leave based on their length of service, namely eight days for those employed less than two years, 12 days for those employed two to five years and 16 days for those employed five years or more.

"The ministry is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of workers in this country," he said in response to a question from Datuk Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (PN-Pasir Puteh) on whether the ministry plans to review the Employment Act concerning annual leave provisions for private sector employees, during Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Nov 28). – Bernama
