"The incident has been classified as sudden death," he said in a statement.
Comm Hussein said the victim's father was informed that his son fell unconscious during a marching exercise and he was sent to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment on Nov 10.
"Initial investigations revealed that the student had joined Palapes at UiTM Shah Alam since late October and he was undergoing a fitness test before basic training starts next year.
"On the day of the incident, the student was punished by his trainer for being left behind during a running session. He was instructed to do push-ups.
"Soon after, he fell unconscious," he said.

"The student was also suffering from cramps and was given further treatment before being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
"The victim passed away on Nov 13," he said.
Police have recorded the statements of nine witnesses, including the victim's father, who lodged a police report on Nov 15, he added.
