KUALA LUMPUR: Sixty patrons tested positive for drugs during a police raid on a nightclub along Jalan Sultan Ismail in the early hours of Saturday.
Officers from the Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) conducted the operation at approximately 4.30am, inspecting 181 individuals who were at the premises.
Bukit Aman NCID director Comm Datuk Seri Khaw Kok Chin said that urine tests were carried out on the patrons, revealing that 56 locals and four foreigners, aged between 20 and 42, tested positive for drug use.
Various drugs, including 393.1g of MDMA, 22.9g of ketamine, and 0.8g of cannabis, were seized during the raid. The drugs, with an estimated value of RM63,530, were sent to the Chemist Department for further investigation.
"The case is being investigated under Section 39B, Section 12(2), and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," said Comm Khaw in a statement.
He added that the entertainment outlet held a valid business licence.
Comm Khaw reiterated the NCID’s commitment to combatting drug-related offences, emphasising that no individual, regardless of their status or background, would be spared.
“We will act without fear or favour. Action will be taken against anyone involved in drug trafficking or abuse,” he said.
