Floods: Two roads in Kluang closed to light vehicles

KLUANG: Two roads in Kluang have been closed to light vehicles following heavy rainfall that caused flooding on Friday (Nov 29) morning.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the affected roads are KM79 Jalan Kahang Timur (FT50) and Batu 16 of the Batu Pahat-Mersing road.

“FT50 was closed to light vehicles at 9am, while the Batu 16 stretch was closed at 9.30am.

“The water at FT50 has risen to a depth of about 0.25m, making it accessible only to large vehicles. The same applies to the road between Batu 16 and 17," he said in a statement.

ACP Bahrin said the flooding was caused by continuous heavy rain and overflow from the nearby drainage system.

Police personnel have been stationed at both locations to help direct traffic and monitor road safety.
