Hamzah Zainudin criticises Pakatan Harapan govt, calling it fragmented and disunited

SHAH ALAM: In his inaugural speech as the Bersatu deputy president, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin took aim at the government, claiming Pakatan Harapan is currently fragmented and experiencing disunity.

The Larut Member of Parliament said the discord would ultimately harm Malaysians while questioning how long any perceived benefits on Pakatan’s side could last.

“For now, the country is being run by a group of parties with differing ideologies and attitudes, who fundamentally do not trust each other.

“We can already see cracks in the fragile glass house they occupy. It is brittle, counting down to its inevitable collapse,” he said in his speech during the Bersatu Annual General Assembly held at the Ideal Convention Centre here on Friday (Nov 29).

Hamzah then launched a scathing critique of the Pakatan administration, accusing the coalition of betrayal and failure.

“Day by day, moment by moment, time bears witness to how the Madani Government has not only failed but has betrayed the people’s trust,” Hamzah said, listing a series of broken promises.

“Reformasi became reformati. Subsidies were withdrawn despite pledges to lower fuel prices. The cost of living continued to rise while promises to protect the rakyat fell flat.

“National debt soared despite assurances of economic empowerment. Justice turned into revengeful politics.”

Hamzah also singled out the DAP, accusing it of driving its agenda while Malay leaders within Pakatan remained submissive.

“One by one, subtle plans are being implemented. They are bold because they know some Malay leaders cower in fear, and worse, others betray their own people,” he said.

He suggested their cooperation was superficial, motivated by self-interest, with no true unity of purpose.

Reaffirming Bersatu’s stance, Hamzah urged members to remain steadfast.

“We do not need to be apologetic. Even if we must die with the soil as our shroud, we will not retreat an inch from this sacred struggle,” he concluded.

The Bersatu leader expressed confidence that the party would take over leadership in Putrajaya, asserting that it is ready to step in when the time comes.

“Believe and have faith - this is our mission. We aim for greater success that will define Malaysia and the global Muslim community,” he said.

Hamzah also called for collective effort within Bersatu, saying that the responsibility could not rest solely on party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He urged all party wings - Srikandi, Armada, Srikandi Muda and Bersekutu - to unite and strategise effectively.
