Seven children taken to police station for riding 'basikal lajak'


GEORGE TOWN: Seven children were taken to the Sungai Nibong police station after being found riding mosquito bicycles, or "basikal lajak" on Lebuh Relau 4.

According to a post on the George Town police headquarters' Facebook page, the children were brought to the station for documentation before being returned to their parents.

The action was prompted by a public complaint about a group of children playing with their modified bikes in the area, which was causing a disturbance and posing a risk to other road users.

The Sungai Nibong police station task force carried out patrols and inspections in the area on Thursday (Nov 28) evening in response to the complaint.

The police also urged parents to closely monitor their children's activities, behaviour, and movements to prevent them from engaging in actions that could endanger themselves or others.
