Wanted man shot dead in Seremban

SEREMBAN: Police have shot dead a 38-year-old man who is believed to be involved in criminal activities at Jalan Persiaran Seremban 2/1.

Negri Sembilan police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said a Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department team spotted a black car driven by the suspect during patrols in the district at about 10.30pm on Wednesday.

“The police team tried to stop the car for inspection, but the suspect crashed into the police car, and several gunshots were heard coming from the suspect’s vehicle.

“In self-defence, the police team returned fire with several shots,” he said, Bernama reported.

When the firing stopped, police checked the car and discovered an unconscious man, who a medical officer later confirmed to be dead.

DCP Ahmad Dzaffir said a 9mm Llama pistol was found in the vehicle.

Meanwhile, a check revealed that the suspect, who was from Klang, had a record of eight drug and crime offences and was also wanted for an organised crime offence in Penang.
