Floods leave 137 cats and shelter workers stranded in Kota Baru

KOTA BHARU: Approximately 137 cats at a shelter in Lubok Jong have been stranded after floods hit the state three days ago.

Molly’s Cat Castle, which cares for both stray and domesticated cats, is now left with just one day’s worth of food supplies.

The shelter’s owner, Nur Emillia Samsudin, 39, said she and her three staff members have been trapped on the second floor of the shoplot building for the past three days.

“When the flood hit the town, the ground floor was submerged, making it difficult for us to get food,” she said.

Nur Emillia added that the authorities had advised them to evacuate, but she expressed concern about leaving the cats behind.

More to come.
