Seven remanded over Cheras mall murder


KUALA LUMPUR: The seven suspects detained in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 49-year-old restaurant cashier at a shopping mall in Cheras, have been remanded for seven days.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Aidil Bolhassan said the five men and two women, who were the victim's colleagues, have been remanded until Friday (Dec 6).

"We are investigating the suspects aged between 19 and 65.

"We want to uncover the motive behind the attack," he said when contacted on Saturday (Nov 30).

It was reported that a 49-year-old woman was stabbed to death at a restaurant located in a shopping mall in Cheras.

The incident occurred between 3pm and 4pm on Friday (Nov 29).

"There were four to five stab wounds on her body.

"We have detained seven of her colleagues to assist with the investigation," ACP Aidil had said.

The body has been sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem, he said.

"We are tracking down other witnesses and investigating the motive behind the murder," he said.
