Flood evacuee numbers rise in Pahang, Johor, and Melaka


PETALING JAYA: The number of flood evacuees in Pahang, Johor, and Melaka increased as of 8pm on Sunday (Dec 1), according to figures from a National Disaster Management Agency report.

In Pahang, evacuee numbers rose to 1,230, compared to 1,198 recorded at 4pm the same day, across the districts of Raub, Lipis, and Jerantut.

In Johor, flood evacuees increased to 728 in Segamat, up from 528 recorded earlier at 4pm on Sunday.

In Melaka, the number of evacuees climbed to 241, with Jasin having the highest number at 161.

As of 8pm, the total number of flood evacuees across eight states nationwide dipped to 143,509, compared to 150,482 recorded at 4pm.

Kelantan remains the hardest hit with 91,504 evacuees, with the highest numbers recorded in Pasir Mas (29,935).

Terengganu recorded 40,604 evacuees, followed by Kedah (7,935), Negri Sembilan (1,198), and Perlis (69).

A total of 623 temporary relief centres are currently operating.

The death toll stands at three, with one case each in Pasir Puteh and Machang, Kelantan on Nov 27, and another recorded in Besut, Terengganu on Nov 28.
