Johor assembly approves 2025 state budget


ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor state assembly has unanimously approved the state's 2025 Budget worth RM1.999bil here.

State Speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi told the assembly on Sunday (Dec 1) that the budget, with its “Maju Johor, Rakyat Sejahtera” (Progressive Johor, Prosperous People)’ theme, has been unanimously passed after being debated by the Johor assemblymen here.

On Nov 21, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi unveiled Johor Budget 2025, which has six cores comprising 244 initiatives.

During the tabling of the budget, Onn Hafiz said that Johor would record a revenue exceeding RM2bil this year, the highest in the state’s history.

“For next year, Johor has also tabled a surplus budget where revenue of RM2.005bil has been projected. The projected revenue is 11% or RM201mil more than this year’s.

“The state budget will have a RM5.12mil surplus and a forecast expenditure of RM1.999bil,” he said when tabling the budget at the state assembly in Kota Iskandar here on Thursday (Nov 21).

Earlier, during his winding-up speech, the Mentri Besar also announced an RM26mil allocation for additional initiatives under Johor Budget 2025.

This includes RM1mil for the construction of the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre (IMFC-J) in Forest City, RM800,000 for 15 military camps and RM750,000 for 13 police district headquarters and the Johor police headquarters.
