IPOH: PAS’s Jabatan Amal Malaysia (JAM) has deployed about 5,000 members to all states affected by floods.

PAS vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad said the party’s volunteer group began the aid mission last week.

The Bagan Serai MP said most members were mobilised to go to Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah, which are badly affected.

“From the first day of flooding, we have continued to mobilise our members

"Everything is going well. Agencies and security forces such as the police, Malaysian Civil Defence Force, and the Social Welfare Department have provided good cooperation and collaboration,” heIdris said during a hi-tea event organised by Perak PAS assemblymen and MPs on Sunday (Dec 1)

Perak PAS Commissioner Razman Zakaria was also present..

Idris said PAS has also collected financial aid, clothing and daily necessities to distribute to flood victims.

"This includes activating the Community Kitchen programme to provide food to flood victims.

“This assistance will continue after the flood, where our members will also be involved in clean-up work," he said.

Razman said the budget tabled in the state assembly on Friday (Nov 29) was more or less the same compared to the previous years.

He said there are no new sources to accommodate or bring forward the current situation's demands.

“Rationalising of subsidies certainly has a big impact on the overall prices of goods,” he said.

Friday, Perak tabled a RM1.52bil budget for next year.
