PASIR GUDANG: A couple has been arrested for allegedly selling drugs using medicine packages meant to treat diarrhea.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said a 43-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were detained on Nov 28 and Nov 29.
“Following information and intelligence gathering, police arrested the two at a double-storey house in Masai here.
“Police also seized various drugs found inside the house which were rented by the suspects, who are unemployed,” he told a press conference at Seri Alam police headquarters here on Monday (Dec 2).
He added the couple used the house into a store for the drugs before selling them to addicts.
The two suspects were tested positive for drugs. However, they don’t have prior records involving drugs, he said.
Supt Mohd Sohaimi said police seized ketamine, ecstasy pills, ecstasy powder and Eramin 5 pills. A car was also seized.
“The total value of the seized drugs are more than RM63,000 which can supply 5,392 addicts. We believe most of their customers are patrons of entertainment centres,” he added.
He said the two suspects, who have been active since September this year, repacked the drugs using medicine packages.
He added they would mix the drugs together with a juice drink powder inside the packages before selling them to their customers.
Their customers would mix the contents of the package with water before drinking it, he said.
Supt Mohd Sohaimi said the suspects have been remanded under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
He urged those with information on drug trafficking activities to contact the Seri Alam police headquarters hotline at 07-3864222.
