Court grants remand for three male suspects in Kuching murder case


KUCHING: The Magistrate's Court has remanded three men to assist investigations into a murder case at an apartment on Jalan Sungai Tapang here.

The suspects, all in their 20s, were arrested after a man was found dead with multiple slash wounds in the apartment early Sunday (Dec 1) morning.

Padawan district police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said police were informed of a quarrel at the apartment at 4.40am on Sunday.

"Upon arriving at the scene, our Criminal Investigation Department team found a 22-year-old man lying in a room in the apartment with slash wounds on his body.

"He was confirmed dead by a medical officer who was present at the scene," he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 2).

Supt Mohd Irwan said three suspects were subsequently arrested in connection with the case, which is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Meanwhile, the suspects were brought to the Magistrate's Court here on Monday (Dec 2) to be remanded.

Two of them were remanded for seven days and the other for four days.

Magistrate Ling Hui Chian granted the remand order.
