IPOH: "Abah, it's painful, it's painful! I can't see."
Those were the last words Muhd Zamrie Zainal Abidin heard his son say to him after he was run over by a senior police officer in his car, the High Court here was told.
The 56-year-old former army officer said that he saw his son - 17-year-old Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie - lying by the intersection of Jalan Taman Jati 1 writhing in pain.
"I saw him suffering from injuries on his elbow, a bruised face and a drag mark on his thigh.
"Later, I heard Zaharif saying 'Abah, it's painful, It's painful! I can't see'," he testified in front of Justice Datuk Bhupindar Singh Gurcharan Singh Preet.
The 19th persecution witness testified that Zaharif continued to repeatedly sit up and lie down even though being stopped from doing so.
"A few minutes later, Zaharif suddenly became silent and his eyes began to twitch (berkelip-kelip).
"My daughter Nur Zawanie Muhd Zamrie, 29, who was also present there asked Zaharif not to sleep and wait for a while while the ambulance came.
"I saw Nur Zawanie checking his pulse and at that time, a school ustaz and I, who were at the scene asked Zaharif to say two khalimah shahadah," he said.
Zamrie said, he then saw Zaharif begin to rest his body and straighten his legs, while his eyes looked up before closing.
Looking at Zaharif's condition, he said he got up and cleared the way for an ambulance, however the pensioner fainted and collapsed at the scene.
He said as soon as he woke up, he was told that his son had died.
During the cross-examination by defence lawyer A Athimulan, Zamrie insisted that at the time of the incident, there was a female teacher who claimed to be the wife of the senior police officer, apologising for her husband's behaviour.
Deputy Supt Mohd Nazri Abdul Razak is charged with murdering Zaharif at the intersection of Jalan Taman Jati/Jalan Pekeliling Meru Indah, near SMK Jati, between 12.05pm and 12.40pm on Dec 15 last year.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Afzainizam Abdul Aziz led the prosecution team comprising Nasrul Hadi Abdul Ghani, V. Suloshani and Low Qin Hui.
The defence team include former Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid and Aiman Hakim Kamaruzzaman.
The trial continues on Wednesday (Dec 4).
