Floods: Over 400 public servants help clean up Ipoh housing area

IPOH: More than 400 public servants, including the police, are involved in clean-up works at Taman Arena Kampung Kepayang following the flash flood that hit over the weekend.

Ipoh city councillor Wong Kar Keat said the council's Town Services Department has also arranged for more than 60 volunteers from other areas to help.

"The police have also deployed about 150 personnel to help out, with about 300 volunteers from other government agencies," he told a press conference at the residential area on Tuesday (Dec 3).

"The number of government agency personnel has been increased to expedite clean-up works," he added.

Taman Arena Kampung Kepayang was among the worst-hit areas following continuous rainfall on Saturday (Nov 30) evening.

Wong said his team would also distribute drinking water to the victims.

"We will ensure the clean-up here is done as soon as possible and to ensure the victims' needs are looked after," he said, adding that his team would also help those affected to register as flood victims.
