Floods: Villagers forced to use railway track to cross swollen Sg Galas

GUA MUSANG: Villagers from Kampung Batu 5 and Kampung Batu 6 here have been forced to use a railway track to get across Sungai Galas after a bridge there was submerged due to floods.

Suzili Sulaiman, 49, said the bridge was submerged following continuous heavy rain from the night before.

Suzili said parents and their children are risking their lives using the railway track to get to their cars parked on the other side of Sungai Galas so they can send their children to school.

"We have no choice but to use this route or our children will miss school. One of my children will also be sitting for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolah Malaysia (STPM) examination soon," Suzili said on Wednesday (Dec 4).

Meanwhile, Kampung Batu 6 resident Kua Eh Say, 60, this is the second time the bridge had been submerged this week.

"We are forced to use the railway track, despite it being risky.

"This route (railway track) is narrow, so it is only passable to motorcycles and pedestrians," he said, adding that over 200 residents in Kampung Batu 5 and Kampung Batu 6 are affected. – Bernama
