Police pursue main suspect in Cheras mall murder


KUALA LUMPUR: Police are continuing their efforts to track down the main suspect involved in the murder of a 49-year-old restaurant cashier at a shopping mall in Cheras.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Aidil Bolhassan said the investigation is ongoing, with significant progress being made.

“So far, we have detained seven of the victim’s colleagues to assist with the investigation.

“We have also recorded the statements of 10 individuals,” he said when contacted on Wednesday (Dec 4).

The motive for the murder remains under investigation.

The tragic incident occurred last Friday (Nov 29) between 3pm and 4pm at a restaurant within the shopping mall. The victim, a woman, was found with four to five stab wounds on her body.

ACP Aidil confirmed that the victim’s body had been sent to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem examination.

“We are also working to identify additional witnesses as part of the investigation,” he added.
