KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will act against civil servants found leaking classified government documents, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He warned that action would be taken immediately against those responsible for leaking classified documents.
This comes as the state Cabinet approved the implementation of the I-MDNET system, which would allow minutes of State Cabinet meetings to be accessed effectively and efficiently in real-time beginning in January next year.
"Access would be given to all department heads to allow each department to provide feedback on Cabinet decisions to the Cabinet and Policy Division promptly," he said during the Chief Minister's Department post-cabinet meeting at Menara Kinabalu Wednesday (Dec 4).
He said state civil servants must ensure good governance in the government's document control system.
"Control of government documents is the basic element for us to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in managing official government documents, records and information.
"All official government documents must be managed in line with the Official Secrets Act 1972.
"Civil servants must always comply with all laws, regulations, policies and guidelines set by the government.
"Civil servants are the backbone of the state government administration and must maintain work ethics, professionalism, behaviour and confidentiality to improve the government's image and the people's trust," he said.
