Bus driver loses control, crashes along North-South Expressway


KUALA LUMPUR: An express bus driver swerved onto a road shoulder and into a drain along the North-South Expressway.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said the incident occurred at about 9pm on Wednesday (Dec 4) at KM427.1 of the expressway.

"The bus was travelling from Ipoh to Seremban. We believe the driver lost control, causing the bus to veer into a drain at the side of the road," he said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 5).

The driver sustained minor injuries, while 20 passengers were unharmed, he added.

"The driver was sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment, and the passengers were transferred to another bus to continue their journey," he said.

"We have seized the bus for further investigation, and the case is classified under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.

He also urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the police as soon as possible.
