KLANG: The new Klang Chinese Muslim Jamek Mosque (Masjid Jamek Cina Muslim Klang) was inaugurated by Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Thursday (Dec 5) evening.
In his Royal address at the event, Sultan Sharafuddin said his dreams of having a mosque with Chinese Muslim architecture had come true.
The Ruler narrated how on a visit to Xi’an City, China, in 2015, he was taken by the architecture of a mosque there.
So when a group of Malaysian Chinese Muslims had an audience with Tuanku and conveyed their hope of building a mosque for their community in Selangor, the Sultan pointed them towards Xi'an.
“I told them to visit Xi’an and suggested that the Selangor Mentri Besar go as well to acquire inspiration from the architecture of the mosque there to build one in the Klang Royal City," His Royal Highness said.
In his address, the Ruler also called upon the mosque management to be cautious and not allow deviant teachings to creep into the establishment.
Sultan Sharafuddin added that deviation from the correct Islamic creed was a serious threat that cannot be taken lightly as it was akin to a hidden enemy wreaking havoc silently.
On another matter, Sultan Sharafuddin took the Selangor state government and the Klang Royal City Council to task for the flooding problem which was rampant.
“I have many times spoken with and advised the local authorities and state government to initiate effective measures and careful planning to overcome the flooding problem that constantly occurs in the Klang Royal City and several other districts in Selangor.’’
The Ruler also ticked off the Klang Royal City Council for the lack of cleanliness, clogged drains and polluted rivers.
Others attending the inauguration were Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari, amongst others.
