JOHOR BARU: The police have arrested a teenager in connection to a baby dumping case at a mall here.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the baby was found by a cleaner in the washroom of a mall, with his umbilical cord still attached, at about 4.51pm on Thursday (Dec 5).

"An individual filed a police report after the cleaner found the baby.

"The baby was covered in blood and still had the umbilical cord attached to him when he was found in the mall's toilet.

"Following the report, we have arrested a 19-year-old woman in Tampoi at about 8.40pm the same day," he said in a statement here on Friday (Dec 6).

He added that the police are also tracking down a local man to assist in the investigation under Section 317 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth to abandon a baby.

"The baby boy is in a stable condition and has been sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) for further medical examination," he said.
