Barisan is committed to progress amidst challenges, says Zambry

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional was not built to fall, and despite hurdles, it will continue to turn crises into opportunities to stand tall, said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

He said this at the Barisan Nasional Convention held at the World Trade Centre here on Saturday (Dec 7) to celebrate the coalition’s golden jubilee (50th anniversary) this year.

“In Barisan's five-decade journey, we have faced hardships but also moments of glory. Major crises have occurred, but those crises were turned into opportunities. This is because we are not a party that destroys or dismantles but one that builds,” said the Higher Education Minister.

He added that the strength of Barisan lies in its grassroots support from the component parties, which consist of Umno, MCA, MIC, PBRS, and Friends of BN, as well as political service from party leaders.

"Great institutions are not built to fall; they endure, adapt, and rise again stronger than before. Barisan’s legacy is its strength, and its future lies in its unity and unwavering commitment to the people,” said Zambry.

He said that credit should be given to all the delegates of the component parties who have gathered to support Barisan despite the floods in ten states nationwide.

“We are all moved by the plight of our friends who were affected by the floods in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, and elsewhere. Yet, despite the challenges, they have come here with the Barisan spirit.

“Today’s attendance exceeds 5,000 in total,” he said.
