HONG Kong action star Donnie Yen (pic) nearly broke his neck while filming his latest movie The Prosecutor, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The 61-year-old was injured when his “opponent” accidentally struck him, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground during a fight scene filmed in a subway.

“Although there was a safety mat, I heard a crack coming from my neck. At that moment, I was really scared,” Yen recalled, joking that the film’s producer, Raymond Wong, should have increased his pay.

After the accident, Yen went straight to a hospital for an X-ray and MRI.

Thankfully, there was no serious injury, he said.

Asked if his wife Cissy Wang was worried, Yen said he called her and joked: “I almost broke my neck.”

She simply comforted him by saying: “As long as you’re okay now.”

Throughout his 42 years of acting, Yen said he has been injured on nearly every film.

Besides the neck scare, Yen sustained several other injuries during the making of The Prosecutor.

Set to be released in Malaysia on Dec 21, the film revolves around a prosecutor who risks his life and career to help a wrongly accused defendant.

> Over the past 20 years of his career, Hong Kong actor and singer Shawn Yue did not get to spend much time with his family due to his hectic travel schedule, China Press reported.

“My working hours have always been very long. When my first child was born, I was extremely busy.

“I spent only one week with him after he was born, then went abroad for three months,” Yue said.

“When I came back, I found that he had completely changed,” he recalled.

Talking about the most hectic work schedule he ever had, Yue shared that he once flew to 38 cities in 38 days.

He was so busy that when he woke up on a plane, he had no idea where he was.
