BATU PAHAT: The new Johor Business School (JBS) under Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) is expected to supply high-quality human capital to the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and the Special Financial Zone (SFZ).

UTHM Chancellor Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim stated that this aligns with the university's dedication to advancing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) while embracing a global entrepreneurial university paradigm rooted in the principles of tauhid.

In his decree, Tunku Ismail also emphasized the university's mission to produce competent, professional, and competitive graduates in high-tech industries.

"I am deeply proud of the establishment of JBS, a new study centre at UTHM this year.

"JBS aims to develop holistic, high-quality human capital and foster sustainable relationships with the local community.

"I am confident it will become a driving force in producing graduates who excel not only in business management but also possess global competitiveness to lead Johor's economic development," he said.

He delivered this speech at UTHM's 24th convocation ceremony at Dewan Sultan Ibrahim on Saturday (Dec 7).

He also urged communities and industries to strengthen their collaboration with higher education institutions to create a dynamic educational ecosystem that better prepares graduates for real-world challenges.

Tunku Ismail added that strategic initiatives such as the JS-SEZ and the SFZ are expected to create over 100,000 jobs in strategic sectors including industry, technology, logistics, and tourism.

"These efforts would complement the role of JBS in strengthening Johor's economy and providing meaningful opportunities for graduates.

"This vision, coupled with unwavering commitment, will ensure JBS and the university as a whole become beacons of excellence in higher education in Johor, aligning with the aspirations of Bangsa Johor for progress and prosperity," he added.
