KL cops nab 77 in vice raids at entertainment outlets in the city


KUALA LUMPUR: A joint operation led by police led to 77 arrests after raids at entertainment centres here.

City police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said that the operation included police, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the Immigration Department and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi).

"A total of 41 suspects, including 23 foreigners were arrested by police," he said in a statement on Sunday (Dec 8).

At the same time the Immigration Department arrested 36 people after inspecting 377.

Meanwhile Jawi also detained 33 people during the raid, with the DBKL issuing five compound notices.

"The police view the issue of vice around the city seriously and will not compromise in taking strict action on any party or premise that were found to have gone against the rules and terms that have been set in the ongoing effort in combating these immoral acts," he said.
