Two suspects arrested in Manjung drug bust


IPOH: A 47-year-old man and his 17-year-old female friend were arrested at an oil palm plantation in Ayer Tawar near Manjung, and drugs worth more than RM60,000 have been seized at different locations.

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the two suspects were arrested on Friday (Dec 6) at about 12.10am.

He said that inside a bag carried by the man, police discovered a transparent plastic packet believed to be heroin weighing 450.9g, and five packets of methamphetamine weighing 103.5g.

"Both suspects were brought to the Manjung police headquarters for further investigations," he said.

Following the arrests, police raided a house in Kampung Pundut in Lumut and seized several other types of drugs worth about RM60,357.

"A car, a scooter, and RM200 were also seized at the house," he added in a statement today (Dec 8).

ACP Hasbullah said initial urine tests on both suspects found them positive for methamphetamine and mop drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1) of the same act.

Both suspects have been remanded for seven days starting today to assist the police in identifying other suspects involved.
