Firemen rescue teenager trapped on Kota Kinabalu apartment ledge


KOTA KINABALU: Firemen have rescued a teenager trapped on a ledge on the sixth floor of an apartment building at Jalan Sulaman near here.

The incident took place at about 10pm on Monday (Dec 9).

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said a team of 10 firemen rushed to the area following a distress call at 10.15pm.

"Upon reaching the location, the team confirmed that a 19-year-old girl was trapped on a ledge between corridors outside one of the apartment units," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 10).

"The firemen then used a rope and harness to retrieve her. The girl was then handed over to the police, who were also present, for the next course of action," he added.

The operation ended at 11pm, the spokesman said.
