Man detained for allegedly extorting restaurant worker in Kuala Lumpur


KUALA LUMPUR: A 25-year-old man has been detained for allegedly extorting a restaurant worker at Jalan Sentul Pasar.

Sentul OCPD Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said the incident occurred at about 6am on Thursday (Dec 5).

"The victim lodged a police report, and the suspect was subsequently detained at 7.41pm on Sunday (Dec 8). The suspect was detained in front of the Sentul Pasar bus depot," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Dec 10).

He said the suspect is jobless and has a record for criminal and drug offences.

"He has been remanded until Thursday (Dec 12). The investigation paper has been referred to the deputy public prosecutor," he added.
