KUALA LUMPUR: A coffee table book on the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) showcases the history of the force spanning over two centuries.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said it also chronicled PDRM's role as keepers of the peace serving with dedication and distinction.
"The book also highlights the challenges, sacrifices and heroic deeds of the police in defending the nation," he said in his speech at the book's launch here on Tuesday (Dec 10).
The book, titled "PDRM: The History of the Establishment, Sacrifice and Success in Preserving Peace in the Country", was launched by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah.
The book was written by Prof Dr Mohamad Thariq Hameed Sultan dan Shafie Abdul Rahman.
Razarudin said the book was a comprehensive explanation of PDRM's history illustrated with photographs throughout.
"It will be a reference for spreading useful and inspirational information to elevate the spirit of patriotism among the people," he added.
Co-author Prof Thariq said it was challenging to gather and verify factual information for the book.
"However, we had good cooperation and support from the police force.
"It took us about a year to finish the book that will eventually be (a principal) reference source on the police force.
"The book is free and we are planning to publish between 30,000 and 40,000 copies to be distributed to schools and universities," he said.
Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Bukit Aman's top leadership also attended the launch.
