The Malaysia-China Summit 2024 will feature groundbreaking initiatives, backed by visionary leaders and prominent names across industries
THE Malaysia-China Summit 2024 (MCS 2024) will be the pinnacle event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China bilateral relations.
Taking place from Dec 17 to 19 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), MCS 2024 will be the largest platform commemorating the anniversary dedicated to future-focused trade and investment.
The inaugural summit will gather government and industry leaders, policymakers, formidable experts, visionaries and innovative enterprises to deepen regional economic ties and promote sustainable regional growth.
Key conversations at the summit will focus on critical growth areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital technologies, sustainable mobility, regional infrastructure and next-gen manufacturing, to provide sector-specific pathways for shared prosperity.
A main component of MCS 2024 is the Leadership Conference on Dec 17 and 18. It will feature influential speakers and panellists, including government, corporate leaders and academicians from Malaysia, China and Asean discussing the evolving role of these regions in the global economy and actionable outcomes for collective growth.
The impressive roster includes the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Transport Minister Anthony Loke; Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang, Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
An international lineup of industry leaders will include Geely Holdings Group vice president and Geely International Holdings (Malaysia) chief executive officer Dr Wei Mei, AAPICO Hitech PLC Thailand president and chief executive officer Yeap Swee Chuan, World Travel & Tourism Council Asia regional director Sarah Wang, Huawei Technologies Malaysia vice president Chong Chern Peng, and Ecoceres Hong Kong chief operating officer Dannis Poon.
“As the culminating event in a year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China relations, MCS 2024 embodies the momentum of strengthened bilateral ties, marked by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's milestone visits to China and the visit to Malaysia by Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
“Our goal as the MCS 2024 organiser, in collaboration with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), is to provide an exceptional platform where leaders, businesses and innovators can share insights and forge new collaborations under the theme of ‘Shared Prosperity.’
“We invite everyone to register and secure their place at this transformative gathering,” said Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd executive chairman and MCS 2024 organising chair, Richard Teo.
At the summit’s three-day International Trade and Investment Exposition, exhibitors from Malaysia, China and Asean will showcase their innovations with the opportunity to explore new partnerships.
Among the top exhibitors are Sunway Group, Itramas Corporation, Seri Pajam Development, China Harbour Engineering Group, Huawei Technologies Malaysia, ZTE Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, Press Metal, Julie’s Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, as well as government representations which include the Communications Ministry, Cradle Fund and State governments from Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu. There is also strong participation from China representing multiple sectors.
The summit will also include a variety of side events and pocket talks. A highlight is the Malaysia-China EV Forum, co-organised with China EV100 and MAYCHAM China, alongside strategic partners MARii and MyZEVA, which will provide insights on EV transformation and industry trends.
Additionally, the China-Malaysia Business Forum will be held in collaboration with the China Chamber of International Commerce, while the Malaysian Consortium of Mid-Tier Companies will host a networking session to facilitate business connections.
Several MoUs and partnerships are also expected to be forged at the summit. To maximise trade and investment outcomes, MCS 2024 will offer pre-arranged business-matching sessions through MATRADE’s International Sourcing Programme, connecting global buyers with Malaysian companies.
MCS 2024 is organised by Qube Integrated Malaysia in association with MATRADE, and endorsed by the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry, as an economic pillar event celebrating the Malaysia-China anniversary.
