KUCHING: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a third suspect in connection with alleged bribery to secure construction projects worth about RM250mil in Sarawak.

The suspect is in his 50s and was remanded for five days until Dec 15 at the Magistrates Court on Tuesday (Dec 10) following an application by the MACC.

According to a source, the suspect, who holds a "Datuk" title, is a business partner of a company director previously arrested by MACC.

They are accused of colluding to enable several companies to obtain construction projects from a district public works office in Sarawak.

To date, the MACC has arrested three suspects in connection with the case, including the company director, who also holds a "Datuk" title, and a civil servant.

The first two suspects were remanded for five days starting 5 December.
