KUALA LUMPUR: Close cooperation and comprehensive efforts by all agencies led to the success of "Ops Global," says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
The Inspector-General of Police said the efforts of all parties ended acts of deviation, whether in terms of security, human rights, or "akidah" (faith).
"The integrated operation is proof of strategic cooperation and collaboration between the police and relevant agencies to ensure that the cases being investigated were proven, thus contributing to the preservation of public order and safety," he said.
Razarudin said this during an event honouring the officers and personnel involved in the special operation at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) on Tuesday (Dec 10) night.
The IGP said a total of 416 suspects have been successfully prosecuted based on the nation's laws and regulations.
"We also opened 99 investigation papers since Ops Global was started in September," he said.
Razarudin also presented 10 appreciation certificates to various agencies, including the Health Ministry, the Attorney-General's Chambers, the Selangor Judicial Department, the Welfare Department, the Registrar of Societies (ROS), and the National Registration Department.
Among those who attended the event were Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, other Bukit Aman directors, Jakim director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, and Prime Minister's Department Protection Division (Director of Operations) Asst Comm Skandaguru Anandan.
Prior to the event, a Yassin recital and a "solat hajat" were conducted at Masjid Sallehin in Pulapol, led by imam Ustaz Muhammad Arif Mohd Rajoli.
Ops Global was conducted through an integrated effort in investigating businesses and care homes linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) and rescuing children from the care homes.
Previously, the IGP had said various offences were detected in activities conducted by GISB during the investigation throughout Ops Global.
Among the offences were neglect of children, exploitation, and abuse to achieve the organisation's goals.
Thus, each action taken was not done blindly but based on facts and evidence.
Razarudin said police investigations into GISB were conducted meticulously and based on existing laws.
He said investigations were conducted under the Penal Code, such as Section 506 and Section 353, while other investigation papers have been prosecuted.
"Investigation was conducted based on reports and information received before further intelligence gathering was done.
The police conducted the investigation carefully, ensuring action against GISB can be taken transparently and thoroughly. As explained previously, we conduct the investigation based on existing laws for offences such as under the Child Act, Sexual Offences Against Children Act, and Sosma," he said.
A total of 625 victims have been rescued throughout the operation and investigation into GISB.
More than 300 individuals, including the GISB chief executive officer and his family members, were detained throughout Ops Global.
