KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Malaysia My Second Home (Sabah MM2H) programme will begin on Thursday with its newly reviewed criteria to attract more foreign participants.

The secretariat for Sabah MM2H programme, under the State Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry, said the new criteria aimed to attract participants from nations with diplomatic relations with Malaysia.

It gives them options for different levels of financial commitment, the secretariat said in a statement here Wednesday (Dec 11).

Sabah MM2H’s criteria offer three categories of applications - Silver, Gold and Platinum.

The Sabah MM2H program will allow participants to live in Sabah with multiple entry visas for a minimum of 5+5 years, and to own housing property with a minimum purchase price of RM600,000. the statement said.

"Participants under this program are allowed to bring in their dependents to Sabah.

"The yearly minimum stay in Sabah is 30 days cumulative, making the program very attractive and friendly.

"All details of the program can be found at the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry’s dedicated website," the secretariat said.

According to the statement, all applications can be made through licensed agents for Sabah MM2H.

The state government has issued licences to local companies which can assist applicants in their application, it said.

"Economic spin-off is expected to benefit the local market. Many potential participants have registered their interest in the program and the government is committed to making the program a successful one," the statement added.

The secretariat said that it offers a safe and conducive environment for all ages, with good weather throughout the year and an affordable living cost that would attract participants.
