Selangor MB pledges better flood mitigation in the state with RM1.774bil allocation

KLANG: Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has pledged to ensure flood mitigation works are carried out more efficiently in the state.

In his pledge of allegiance speech at the investiture ceremony in conjunction with Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah's birthday on Wednesday, Amirudin announced that RM1.774bil has been allocated for flood mitigation in the state.

He noted that RM574.5mil of this amount is designated for the Klang district, targeting flood mitigation plans in Sungai Klang, Section 25 Shah Alam, Sungai Kapar, Sungai Rasah, Meru town, and Sungai Rasau.

The Mentri Besar expressed his commitment to expedite the implementation process and avoid any delays.

"Your Highness’s government will strive to be more tenacious and alert in facing the challenges of climate change and ensure matters such as land management involving existing highways or railway lines will no longer be an obstacle to flood mitigation efforts," said Amirudin.

He also mentioned that the state government accepted Sultan Sharafuddin’s recent chiding with an open heart.

Meanwhile, a total of 94 people received various awards and medals at the investiture ceremony held at Istana Alam Shah.

Heading the list were Public Service director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz and The Edge Communications Sdn Bhd executive director Tan Sri Tong Kooi Ong, who both received the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS) award, which carries the title Datuk Seri.
