Woman killed, nine-year-old daughter survives in Sabah road crash


KOTA KINABALU: A nine-year-old girl escaped unhurt in a road accident Off Lintas-Kepayan Road that claimed her mother’s life and left two others with minor injuries.

Putatan Fire Station chief Noor Sherriyana Bohari said a team of eight was dispatched to the scene, about nine kilometres away, following the distress call at 5.21am on Wednesday (Dec 11).

“Upon arrival, the team found two cars involved in the crash - a Toyota Camry, driven by 46-year-old Hazwah Jubrine, who was confirmed dead at the scene, and a Perodua Myvi,” she said.

The girl, identified as Nur Adelia Amanda Mohd Aizat, had already been rescued by the public when firefighters arrived.

Their car had skidded and hit a lamp post along the road.

Meanwhile, two men, Mohammad Nurshahrani Aziz, 20, and Beduin Kantumi, 28, from the other vehicle that had overturned, suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Details of the accident are not immediately available as it is still under investigation.

“We have handed the investigation to the police,” said Noor Sherriyana.

After ensuring there was no further danger, the operation was called off at 7.05am.
