THOSE who have lost family members to Covid-19 have received financial aid from Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia (YKM) ahead of Christmas, reported Berita Harian.
YKM chairman Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said the foundation is primarily committed to helping children who lost their parents to Covid-19.
During his visit to Taman BDC in Kuching, he personally handed over financial aid to Tina Bong, 50, who lost her husband Sim Siang Yeong, 53, to Covid-19 in October 2021.
Since then, she has been struggling to make ends meet as she does not have a stable income, while taking on occasional orders for cooking.
Bong now lives in Kuching with her two teenage sons in her in-laws’ home while also caring for her elderly parents-in-law who are in their 80s.
Ismail Sabri also visited another family in Taman Malihah, Kuching, namely Rimanoraishahida Sarbini, 37, who lost her husband Mohamad Nuryasri Suut, to Covid-19 in September 2021.
Rimanoraishahida earns RM700 monthly as a babysitter while raising three children aged 13 to 16.
After reviewing their living conditions, YKM approved financial assistance for all three children starting next year.
YKM also allocated RM300 each to 20 Christian orphans under its care to help them have a joyful Christmas.
“This reflects our commitment to supporting orphans from all faiths and cultures during festive seasons,” said Ismail Sabri.
> Actress Chacha Maembong is open to collaborations with co-stars she has had conflicts with, including Nur Ruhainies Farehah Zainul Ilyas, reported Harian Metro.
Chacha, whose real name is Siti Aishah Ismail, said Malaysia’s entertainment industry is relatively small, making it inevitable that they would cross paths again.
“Coincidentally, since that controversy, I’ve never crossed paths with her (Ruhainies). What happened was just a misunderstanding. If there’s an offer for us to work together, I would still be professional,” she added.
Previously, Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz’s alleged girlfriend Sarah Yasmine made claims online about Chacha in the controversy involving Ruhainies and Aliff.
She said after the incident, she had not been in contact with or met Ruhainies.
